The British government is prepared to move forward with using the entire amount of frozen Russian holdings to bolster Ukraine's military campaign, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade Moscow to engage in negotiations.

They clarified that the initiative would be carried out in close cooperation with the US.

British sanctions have immobilized in excess of £25bn of Russia's assets since the Russian government initiated its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, previously, resources allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's holdings had exclusively been drawn from profits and interest generated on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their aim to push forward toward utilizing the full value of the frozen Moscow's national holdings to halt hostilities.

He noted that further restrictions in the coming days and weeks would heighten the tension on Russia.

This announcement follows European Union leaders met in Copenhagen previously to discuss employing seized Russia's holdings for a €140 billion loan to Ukraine.

Last month, President Donald Trump called on Group of Seven partners to seize or utilize immobilized Russia's assets, based on reports.

The worth of frozen Russia's holdings in the EU is calculated to be nearly €211bn.

Russia carried out extensive bombardments all over Ukraine on Friday, causing blackouts in large parts of Kyiv, Kyiv, and eight other regions.

"Every sanction decision diminishes the Russian war effort," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

Additionally that day, Zelensky told media outlets he would press Sir Keir to enter the PURL programme, under which partner nations buy weapons from the America to give to Ukraine.

While praising the Britain's strong support for the Ukrainian government, he said it should send a clear signal that it would participate in the initiative, as well as enforce additional sanctions on Russia.
