Catastrophe Hits as Inadvertent Blast at Police Station in Indian-administered Kashmir Claims Nine Fatalities
A catastrophic explosion at a security post in the Kashmir region under Indian control has led to the deaths of nine persons and harm to thirty-two more, according to authority reports.
The incident took place when a stockpile of impounded blast substances inadvertently exploded during processing activities.
Chronology of Incidents
The detonation happened on Friday night at the Nowgam security post, where detonation agents taken from Faridabad in the northern state of Haryana were being held provisionally.
Area security director announced that the explosives were awaiting technical investigation when a "extremely tragic" mishap during management led to their blast at approximately 11:20 PM local.
Police Announcements
Police authorities confirmed that this was an "accidental detonation" and rather than a militant action. "Alternative theories regarding the reason of this event is unnecessary," highlighted the police chief during a journalist meeting.
The law enforcement facility endured significant harm from the detonation, with adjacent buildings also being affected by the intense detonation.
Impact and Victims
Numerous cars were "covered in blaze and turned into burned shells, with fragments distributed across the location," according to official reports.
"The power of the detonation was so extreme that some human remains were found in close-by residences, approximately between 100 and 200 meters from the law enforcement facility," stated an police contact.
Most of the casualties were law enforcement personnel, along with technical investigation team, two investigative imaging experts, and a tailor who was present with the personnel.

The territory's Administrative Head stated condolences and declared that an inquiry had been ordered into the catastrophic occurrence.
"I have commissioned a probe to ascertain the origin of the inadvertent detonation. Extremely pained by the death of valuable individuals due to exceptionally devastating inadvertent detonation at Nowgam police station in the Srinagar area. My commiserations to the bereaved families. I wish for rapid recuperation of the injured," expressed the leader on social media.
