Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, Known For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Dies at 60 Years Old.
Stateside actor Pat Finn, who appeared in beloved television series including "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.
The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles on Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, as reported by media reports.
"Pat Finn never met a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives stated in a announcement.
They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific TV Career
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.
He was also seen in a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He starred as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a host who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous popular shows, like:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- "House"
His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His work in movies are It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Off-Screen Life
Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was involved with a six-person improv troupe named "Beer Shark Mice".
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored many learners over the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote online.
The actor is survived by his wife Donna, three children, and his family.
