Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for doubts to be asked about his position following another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received plenty of backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the trust. But I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

The manager lamented familiar shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell of this nature with performances so bad.”

He concluded, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
