It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the peak baggers, are the only things left for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the possibility.

In the end, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

If this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a challenging time because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself that way, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was removed the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the belief to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they left last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she later said she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.
