Toronto Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Matchup Against defending champion Dodgers
The outfielder previously helped the Astros claiming the championship in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their maiden World Series since 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the ALCS.
Behind 3-1, the star outfielder hit a three-run homer in the seventh, propelling the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series win in the series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, who are the reigning title, in the anticipated championship.
"It's incredible for our team, the city, Canada," commented Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "This is such an amazing experience."
George Springer has now hit twenty-three playoff homers, making him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine another person in the world that I want up in that spot except for Springer with his playoff prowess," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle, despite leading the early in the series, remain the one club never to appear in a World Series.
Wilson said "there's no question that it hurts" in the wake of his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. Sadly that we finished on the unsuccessful side of this game," he remarked.
The Blue Jays claimed the championship on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Los Angeles in game one on the upcoming Friday.
